The renovation project is getting underway. The locker rooms are getting emptied to make way for the new expanded bar & grill. The golf shop will also be moved from it’s present location to the end of the west end of the building, some may remember when the golf shop was there previously. A pavilion is planned for north of the garden area, this has resulted in a new putting green. While the construction folks are here, the 13th green is getting a make over. The sever slope has been removed and the front portion of the green has been raised so the slope back to front is more in line with the rest of the greens on the course. Obviously, this will cause some temporary disruptions. Hopefully these will be as minor as possible – I am sure that we will very much enjoy the results.

August is here with some hot, humid days. We also have some events available! The Men’s Midsummer Classic will be held on August 10th, this two man net best ball event is always a great time! Women’s Championship day is set for Tuesday, August 16th with a noon start. Winona City Championship is August 13 & 14, with the two day event at Westfield and the flights here on the 14th. TRGA Championship day one is Saturday, August 27. A reminder about the annual Shortridge Three Person Scramble on September 24 & 25.

The last few days have been great, sun, blue sky and the course loves it! Fairways & greens are beautiful! We have some specials for you to check out, our always special for foursomes is still $160.00 plus tax anytime you have a foursome of green fees. Monday, Tuesday & Thursday before 11 am the rate is $30.00 per player. After 11 pm those days plus Saturday & Sunday after 2 pm the rate goes to $36.00. These special rates are June only specials – take advantage of them while they last! Check back to see what we may come up with for July! They have also completed the weatherization of the course, so as of Sunday, November 21st, our days of golf at the Bridges are over for 2010. It seems like just a few weeks ago we were opening the course to play.

Best wishes go out to Joe Reed on his knee surgery today!

The course is still in great shape! I had the chance to get out on Friday with Rome Ritter & Bruce Davey who was back in town for a couple days. The course is in wonderful condition – Kudos go out to course superintendent Jamie Plomedahl and his grounds crew for doing such a great job all season!

It looks like we will have a few more sunny days above 50 degrees, make some plans to stop out and play, winter is coming.
